GDF Plans $9.8 Billion Offer for International Power, Mail on Sunday Says

GDF Suez SA, operator of Europe’s largest natural-gas network, is planning a 6.4 billion-pound ($9.8 billion) cash offer for International Power Plc, the Mail on Sunday reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

GDF has met its advisers including Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and has the support of the French government, which owns 35 percent of GDF, the newspaper said. Earlier discussions that lasted months broke down in January, the newspaper said.
