RusHydro’s Khamitov Appointed Acting President of Bashkortostan

Rustem Khamitov, an executive at OAO RusHydro, was appointed as acting president of the Bashkortostan republic by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the Kremlin press service said in a statement today.

Medvedev accepted the resignation of Murtaza Rakhimov from the post, the Kremlin said.

Khamitov is currently the deputy chairman of the management board of OAO RusHydro, the state-run hydropower utility.
