New York Rangers Sign Free-Agent Goalie Martin Biron to Backup Lundqvist

The New York Rangers agreed to a two- year, $1.7 million contract with free-agent goaltender Martin Biron to serve as Henrik Lundqvist’s backup.

Biron, 32, played in 29 games for the New York Islanders last season, posting a 9-14-4 record.

The Quebec native has played 10 National Hockey League seasons, compiling a 208-176-25-24 record for the Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers and Islanders.

The Rangers announced the signing in a press release.
