Air Berlin May Passenger Numbers Increase as Load Factor, ASK Rate Decline

Air Berlin Plc’s May passenger numbers rose 1.8 percent to 2.91 million as its load factor decreased 2.7 percentage points to 74 percent, the German airline said in an e-mailed statement today. Revenue per available seat kilometer dropped 6.9 percent to 5.48 euro cents from 5.88 cents amid delayed bookings as passengers were unsettled by the spread of volcanic ash.

The figures include passengers in routes offered by TUIfly, which Air Berlin bought in October 2009.
