Chelsea's Joe Cole Agrees to Join Arsenal, People Newspaper Reports

Chelsea’s England midfielder Joe Cole agreed to join London rival Arsenal on a free transfer after the World Cup, the People newspaper reported, without saying where it got the information.

The 28-year-old, who will leave the Blues at the end of this month when his contract ends, accepted a weekly salary of 90,000 pounds ($130,000) on a three-year deal, the People said. That compares with 80,000 pounds a week at Chelsea, the newspaper added. He’ll also get a “hefty” signing-on fee, according to the People.
