Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd., an Indian paper maker, is seeking to import 240,000 metric tons of non-coking coal from Indonesia, Australia, South Africa and China.

The Indian company has sought bids by June 7, K.V. Rajendran, general manager in charge of purchases, said by telephone from Karur in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The coal has to be delivered in six shipments of about 40,000 metric tons each. The company needs coal with a calorific value of 6,000 kilocalories a kilogram.

Tamil Nadu Newsprint requires the first shipment to reach Tuticorin port by Aug. 5, according to the company’s tender document. All shipments are to be delivered by Dec. 12, 2010, according to the tender posted on the company’s web site.
