Mining Analyst Heath Jansen Rejoins Citigroup in London; Two More Hired

Heath Jansen rejoined Citigroup Inc. as head of European metals and mining research and the bank hired two more for the team in London.

Jansen, who returned to the bank in May, will coordinate research and analysts globally and cover companies including BHP Billiton, a London-based spokeswoman for the bank said in an e- mailed response to questions. He worked at Citigroup from 2005 to 2009, she said separately by phone.

Jansen was a founding partner of Verulam Resources Fund, a hedge fund investing in commodities. Andrew Suckling, another founding partner of Verulam, declined to comment when contacted by phone.

Citigroup also hired Anindya Mohinta from Marble Bar Asset Management LLP to cover metals and steel companies and Tom O’Hara from Metal Bulletin, according to the bank’s e-mail.

Citigroup is a category 2 member of the London Metal Exchange, giving it the same rights as a ring-dealing member except it can’t participate in open outcry trading.
