Employers' Chief Marcegaglia Rejects Industry Ministry Offer, Stampa Says

The president of Confindustria, Italy’s biggest employers’ lobby, turned down an offer to become the country’s industry minister, the newspaper La Stampa reported, without saying where it got the information.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi had asked Emma Marcegaglia to fill the post, the newspaper said. Berlusconi took over as interim industry minister after Claudio Scajola, a close ally, resigned on May 4 amid a scandal over his purchase of a home in Rome.
