Le Monde Stake Eyed by Nouvel Observateur Owner Perdriel, Les Echos Says
Claude Perdriel, the owner of French magazine Le Nouvel Observateur, is interested in buying a stake in Le Monde newspaper, Les Echos reported, citing an announcement by Perdriel.
Buying control of the unprofitable newspaper would cost 50 million euros to 60 million euros, Les Echos reported today. Lazard Ltd. banker Matthieu Pigasse and philanthropist Pierre Berge also may team up to buy a stake in Le Monde, Le Figaro reported May 12.
