Boston Celtics Defeat Cavaliers and LeBron James to Clinch Playoff Series

The Boston Celtics defeated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 94-85 to win their second-round playoff series and advance to the Eastern Conference finals against the Orlando Magic.

The Celtics, who won the best-of-seven National Basketball Association series 4-2, overcame 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists by James in the game tonight in Boston. Cleveland had the best record (61-21) in the NBA during the regular season.

“You have to give the Celtics credit. They played a heck of a game,” Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said in a televised interview. “Our guys fought tonight. They fought to the end. We never got a rhythm against this team.”

Kevin Garnett had 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Rajon Rondo scored 21 points for the Celtics, who will meet the Orlando Magic on May 16 in Game 1 of the conference finals in Orlando, Florida. The Magic are 8-0 in the playoffs against the Charlotte Bobcats and the Atlanta Hawks.

Mo Williams added 22 points for the Cavaliers.
