Totti, Del Piero Left Out of World Cup Squad by Defending Champion Italy

Italian national soccer team coach Marcello Lippi dropped defending champions Francesco Totti, Luca Toni and Alessandro Del Piero from the preliminary 30-man squad for next month’s World Cup.

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi was included in the list at the expense of Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie. The squad includes eight Juventus players, included the captain Fabio Cannavaro, which will end the Serie A season in seventh place.
