Oakland's Braden Throws Perfect Game Against Tampa Bay Rays in 4-0 Victory

Dallas Braden of the Oakland Athletics became the 17th pitcher in Major League Baseball’s modern era to throw a perfect game, retiring all 27 batters he faced in a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Braden had six strikeouts and threw 109 pitches in beating the Rays at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California. He got Gabe Kapler to ground out to shortstop to end the game and pumped his arm in the air as his teammates rushed to celebrate with him between the pitcher’s mound and first base.

Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox was the last major- league pitcher to throw a perfect game, on July 23 of last season. He also did it against the Rays.

Ubaldo Jimenez of the Colorado Rockies threw a no-hitter on April 18.
