New Zealand Stocks Advance: Auckland International Airport, NZX Lead Gains

New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index rose 0.1 percent to 3,306.25 at the 5 p.m. close in Wellington. The following were among the most-active shares in the New Zealand market. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.

Auckland International Airport Ltd. (AIA NZ) rose 0.5 percent cent to NZ$2.02. Aircraft movements last month were 2.1 percent higher than a year earlier, with international passenger traffic increasing 2.7 percent, the airport said in a statement today.

NZX Ltd. (NZX NZ), operator of the nation’s stock exchange, rose 2.8 percent to NZ$1.85. The company will retain about NZ$4.4 million ($3 million) after 56 percent of shareholders opted to receive bonus shares in lieu of cash dividends, the exchange said today.

Pumpkin Patch Ltd. (PPL NZ), the nation’s second-largest publicly traded retailer, rose 0.9 percent to NZ$2.22. A second stand-alone children’s clothing brand will be started this year to broaden sales in New Zealand and Australia, the company said in a statement today.
