BSkyB Appeals Competition Ruling Over Stake in Broadcaster ITV

British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc (BSY), the U.K.’s biggest pay-television provider, began a court challenge to a ruling forcing it to sell a stake in broadcaster ITV Plc. (ITV)

BSkyB is appealing a 2008 ruling by the U.K.’s Competition Appeal Tribunal ordering it to cut its ITV holding to less than 7.5 percent from 17.9 percent. The hearing began at the Court of Appeal in London today.

The case, being heard by a three-judge panel, is scheduled to last two days with a judgment at a later date.

The case reference is: C1/2008/3066 British Sky Broadcasting Group Plc -v- The Competition Commission & Ors. Appeal of Applicant from the order of The Honourable Mr Justice Barling, dated 29th September 2008, filed 18th December 2008.
