China Railway Group Wins Contracts Worth 13.9 Billion Yuan

China Railway Group Ltd. (390), the nation’s biggest construction company by assets, won orders worth 13.9 billion yuan ($2 billion) to build and upgrade railway routes.

The largest of the 10 orders was a 5.4 billion-yuan contract for work on a passenger line between the western cities of Chengdu and Mianyang, the company said in a statement to the Shanghai stock exchange today.

The value of the contracts is equivalent to 5.9 percent of sales in 2008, it said.
