Mosenergo May Delay Power-Plant Construction on Capacity Price

OAO Mosenergo (MSNG), Moscow’s main power utility, may delay construction of four 420-megawatt generators this year because the project could prove unprofitable at the current price for capacity.

The Market Council, which regulates the industry, has offered to pay Mosenergo 370,000 rubles ($11,388) per megawatt of installed capacity, which is 30 percent below the price the company needs to carry out the project, spokesman Vitaly Koskovetsky said today by telephone from Moscow.

Mosenergo is controlled by OAO Gazprom.
