Sacyr Vallehermoso SA (SYV), Spain's fifth-biggest builder, and Grupo Soares da Costa SGPS SA, Portugal's third-biggest publicly traded construction company, are leading two groups bidding for Portugal's Transmontana highway project.
The two bidding groups today each presented their best and final offer and a winner will be picked before the end of October, Portugal's Public Works Ministry said today in an e-mailed statement. The project will stretch for 130 kilometers (81 miles) between Vila Real and Braganca in northern Portugal.
Soares da Costa leads a group including Spanish builder Fomento de Construcciones & Contratas SA, while Sacyr is bidding with Portuguese builder MSF-Moniz da Maia Serra e Fortunato Empreiteiros SA.
