Domtar Has Third-Quarter Net Income of $36 Million

Domtar Corp. (UFS), North America's largest producer of office paper, reported a third-quarter profit of $36 million, or 7 cents a share.

The quarterly results, the third for the Montreal-based company, were announced in a statement distributed by PR Newswire.

Domtar was formed in the March merger of Domtar Inc. of Montreal and the fine-paper assets of Federal Way, Washington- based Weyerhaeuser Co. (WY) Second-quarter net income was $11 million, or 2 cents a share.

Domtar rose 13 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $8.45 yesterday in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. The shares had climbed 0.5 percent since March 6, the day before the merger was completed.
