Camino Tassajara, Calif.

Population: 1,710
Median home value: $1,000.000+
Mean retirement income: $108,555

Camino Tassajara is a community in the town of Danville, east of San Francisco and north of San Jose. It's "a bedroom community for commuters" and close to three airports, said Nicole Tucker, of Tucker Associates Real Estate Services in Danville. A lot of executives relocate here -- Chevron has a "huge" corporate complex nearby, Tucker said, and a business park has about 50 Fortune 500 companies with corporate offices. The proximity to San Francisco and quality of life in a quiet town leads them to stay into retirement, she added. Just 3.2 percent of residents in Camino Tassajara are 65 or older.
