Richard Burton

Richard Burton once shared with Peter O'Toole the dubious distinction among actors for the record number of nominations without a win: seven. That was until O'Toole lost out on an eighth Oscar in 2007. Burton's famous films include "Becket," for which both O'Toole and Burton (pictured, at right) were nominated in 1965. Burton, who twice married and divorced the actress Elizabeth Taylor, died in 1984 at age 58.
