Dollar Woes

When: Aug. 3
What: Talk about changing the reserve currency continued in 2011. As other currencies outperformed the U.S. dollar, its role as the world's reserve currency "appears to be slipping," stated a committee of bond dealers and investors in August. The continued uncertainty worried investors, as it would affect exchange rates, financial market stability, company operations, and the U.S. government's ability to finance its deficits and budget.
