“If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere,” go the lyrics to New York’s unofficial anthem. Those words have never been truer in this tough state. Lose your job, and unemployment insurance provides just 30.4 percent of wages. The wealth disparity in the state, while less glaring than in others, is significant enough that if you lose your job, finding a new one can be frustrating. In fiscal 2013, federal grants for unemployment insurance will likely fall by $10.3 million, according to Pew Charitable Trusts.
