Colorado is one of 13 states that tax Social Security income, according to Bloomberg BNA. Those age 55 or older get an exemption for the first $20,000 of Social Security income taxable for federal purposes; for taxpayers 65 or older, the exemption applies to the first $24,000. Through a referendum in November, voters will decide on the legal use and taxation of recreational marijuana. The excise tax under the measure would be no more than 15 percent.
