J&J Recalls

When: Throughout year
What: Quality control issues continued to cost Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) millions in recalls in 2011. In January, it withdrew 43 million bottles of Rolaids, Tylenol, Benadryl, and Sinutab. The next month it recalled 70,000 potentially cracked Invega syringes, and in March, 585,000 surgical sutures. (See story on Businessweek.com.) More recalls followed through the year for such products as hip implants and an epilepsy drug.
