Fancy employers put expensive works of art on office walls. The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities lets employees take the art home. The university's Weisman Art Museum allows employees, students, and offices to rent framed works of art. Employees pay $40 per year. Those who started the program in 1934 "just wanted to make artwork accessible to students and employees," says Erin Lauderman, the museum's marketing and communications associate director. The works available--more than 1,000 in total--are mostly prints, including some limited editions created by Minnesota artists. About 200 are currently rented out to students and employees.
