12th Annual Shady Cove Spam Festival, Shady Cove, Oregon/June 30

Bring a lawn chair to the Spam Festival, which takes place on the Rogue River in Shady Cove, Oregon. While not sponsored by Hormel, this celebration goes back to Spam's status as a 1940s cultural icon. Here, you can eat spamburger hamburgers and hot dogs and teriyaki spam kabobs ($16 buys you two spam kabobs and two spamburgers) and listen to live music from Diamonds and Denim and Robert Richter & Jessica Hitchborn. There's a rubber ducky race, a watermelon-eating contest and rides on the spammobile. Best of all, it's free.
