Online shoppers living in Pennsylvania may have noticed an increase in their bills starting last September, when Amazon began collecting 6 percent sales tax on purchases bound for the state. In 2011, a state commission recommended a local fee on gas drilling activity, which was enacted in 2012. In Governor Tom Corbett’s most recent budget proposal, K-12 education funding would be increased without raising taxes by privatizing state liquor sales. Pennsylvania expects to raise $1 billion from selling its state liquor monopoly.
