BlackBerry Outage

When: Oct. 10-14
What: A core switch failure within Research In Motion's (RIM) infrastructure caused BlackBerry users around the world to lose service, starting in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. The disruption was a big blow to the company, which has been losing market share to such competitors as Apple (AAPL). By Oct. 27, RIM's stock down 63.4 percent since the beginning of the year. Consumer Law Group also announced the filing of a proposed national class action against RIM in the Quebec Superior Court.
