Alfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock was nominated just five times, for directing "Rebecca," "Lifeboat," "Spellbound," "Rear Window" and "Psycho." He didn't win an Oscar until 1968, when he was given an honorary Oscar. Other Hitchcock classics, such as "North by Northwest" and "The Birds" (left), weren't even nominated for the directing award.
