HP Fires Another CEO

When: Sept. 22
What: Leo Apotheker became the third chief executive that HP has let go in six years. During his 11-month stint, the company's stock fell 47 percent, according to Bloomberg News. His decision in August to spin off HP's personal computer business into a separate company sent the stock plunging 20 percent. Meg Whitman, who replaced Apotheker as CEO, announced on Oct. 27 that the company would keep its PC unit.
