Seattle's Seafair Summer Fourth

After Seattle decided to cancel this year's show when donations fell short, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Seafair, an organizer of local events, reinstated the event thanks to support from Microsoft, Amazon.com, DoubleDown Interactive, Starbucks, Wells Fargo and Tom Douglas Restaurants. The 20-minute show will take place from a barge on Lake Union near Gas Works Park.

The Navy's Blue Angels, a team of aerobatic airplanes operated by Navy or Marine Corps pilots, canceled its shows this year and will be replaced by the Patriots Jet Team, a nonprofit group from California with planes flown by highly trained volunteers. The planes will spew red, white and blue smoke. According to the celebration's former nonprofit organizer One Reel, the cost in years past was about $550,000; $150,000 of that was for fireworks.
