Washington, D.C.'s Capitol Fourth

This year's Capitol Fourth program includes a live concert by the National Symphony Orchestra as well as performances by such pop artists as Barry Manilow, Candice Glover, Tom Bergeron of "Dancing With the Stars" and Darren Criss from the television show "Glee." Fireworks can be viewed from the National Mall at 9:15 p.m. and last 17 minutes. There's also America's National Independence Day Parade, featuring marching bands from all over the country. The $100,000 cost of the parade covers giant balloons, floats, permits, street closures and security. The marching bands spend upwards of $2 million on travel. A traditional annual concert that takes place in the National Mall, run by the National Park Service, was canceled this year due to budget cuts.
