Alec Young, S&P Capital IQ global equity strategist, cited the consumer staples sector's 3.1 percent dividend yield as a reason for its appeal. "Investors will continue to want to be 'paid to wait' until the macroeconomic climate improves," he wrote on Nov. 22.
