Equity Stock that represents ownership in the issuing company. Exchange A marketplace in which shares, options and futures on stocks, bonds, commodities and indices are traded. 52-week High The highest price that a security traded at during the past 52 weeks. 52-week Low The lowest price that a security traded at during the past 52 weeks. Fund A pool of money managed by an investment company. High The highest price at which a security has traded on the current day. Index A weighted average of security prices. Low The lowest price at which a security has traded on the current day. Net Change The difference between a day's last trade and the previous day's last trade. Open The price of a security at the start of the trading day. P/E Ratio The relationship between the price of a stock and its earnings per share, expressed in the formula: P/E ratio = stock price/earnings per share. Shares Outstanding The portion of the company's stock that has been publicly purchased or is owned by the officers. The shares the company buys back itself (treasury stock) are not considered outstanding. Symbol/Ticker A series of letters used to identify a company or index on an exchange. Time The time of the trade at the current price. After trading hours, the Monitor displays the date of the trade at the current price. Today's Volume The volume of shares that a stock has traded so far during the current trading day. Value The latest value of the index or the latest price of the security.
