Barbara Bentley adorns her bottles with labels designed with clip art and photographs (such as photos of rabbits for her Hareitage line of Red Bordeaux Blend). Labels, though, can present a hazard of their own. "If you give a bottle to friends and it gets wet, it can be a sticky, gluey mess," she says. So she puts clear packing tape over her labels. Another strategy: Avoid labels altogether. Taybi calls his label-less bottles "shiners."
