Lasik Eye Surgery
Last year more than 450,000 Americans spent $1.6 billion on Lasik eye surgery -- usually having surgery on both eyes -- according to research company Market Scope. While Canada used to be a popular destination for Lasik, the price difference is no longer that great. In Prague, the Lexum Eye Clinic uses equipment approved by the American FDA, and many of the surgeons were trained in the U.S. The cost is about half of that in the U.S. Depending on airfare and hotel costs, the difference in price may not be that great, but you do get to see Prague.
$4,400: Cost of Lasik surgery (both eyes) in the U.S.
$2,360: Cost in Czech Republic -- Market Scope
Closer to home:
$1,995: Cost in Mexico
