Adult Day Care

Used to be that adult day care centers were little more than places family members could drop off older relatives when they weren't home. As more people choose to live in their own homes instead of nursing homes, the centers are morphing into much more. More doctors, social workers and other professionals are working in adult day care centers. Some centers even offer showers and laundry facilities. Fees vary greatly depending on where you live. In Texas, day care costs average $41 per day; in Washington, D.C., costs balloon to $109 per day, according to a November 2012 MetLife Market Survey.
