Somewhere in the back of every aquarium owner's mind is the "what if" question. What happens if a 90-gallon tank, weighing about 1,000 pounds, ruptures in my living room? Water could seep into wooden floors, through drywall, even into power outlets. Fortunately, most homeowner insurance policies cover the cost of the aquarium, equipment and damage to your home and personal property, according to USAA, which provides insurance to military families. It will not cover the fish. Oh, and if the fish bites someone, that person's injury should be covered under the insurance liability policy.
