Tunnel of Lights

Many people want to create a festive entrance to their homes around the holidays. It could be a candy-cane walkway or a walkway lined with votive candles in jars or with garland decorated with holly. Nikos Phelps, president of Utopian Landscapes in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, built a tunnel of lights for one client, partnering with a greenhouse company to develop a custom, 20-foot-tall, hooped structure that was 70 feet long. It was decorated with 4,500 red, green and white lights with garland over the entry hoop. There was even an 11-foot clearance for UPS and Fedex delivery trucks. "The beauty of leasing is that our clients are never obligated to the same decor from year to year," says Nikos.

$5,000: Includes rental, installation of the unit, rental and installation of lights, service during the season, dismantling and storage.
