Either the pets are rebelling, the owners are relenting or the lackluster economy is hitting Halloween. The number of households intending to buy Halloween duds for their pet this year is down 12 percent from 2012's estimate, a steeper drop than the 7.6 percent decline the NRF forecasts for overall Halloween spending. Christie Lynn Bonham, owner of Cabo Dog Pet Boutique, says 65 percent of Halloween sales go toward costumes and apparel with the remainder on treats. This year’s popular get-ups include a witch costume with an LED-lighted skirt (from $54.99) and a glow-in-the-dark Spider Dog costume (from $38.99).
