The first eight months of 2012 have seen tremendous progress for Bloomberg Sports as the leader in sports analytics, including a nomination by Sports Business Journal for the Best in Sports Technology award. In February we announced a partnership with the Chicago Cubs to extend the most state of the art player evaluation system in Major League Baseball to another level.
This spring we also launched the 2012 version of our fantasy baseball product, “Front Office“, including a host of new features, to a strong response from consumers. We also continued to build our TV broadcast applications, forging deals with both national and regional baseball broadcasters, and introduced our first hockey analytics product for Canadian television.
And last Friday, we announced that the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim) have partnered to work with us on a state-of-the-art enhancement of all their player evaluation and analytics tools in time for the 2013 season. We’ve had a working relationship with the Angels for some time and are excited to strengthen our ties with general manager Jerry Dipoto and his team.
The new partnership with the Angels is a large scale elevation of our work and growing partnerships with other MLB clubs. We are now working with 26 of the 30 major league baseball teams and are looking to further extend our reach. In fact, we have made our first sales of the pro baseball system to Japanese teams.
The Angels announcement also represents a new stage of growth for Bloomberg Sports. We will be launching enhanced versions of our fantasy football tools later this week, and we’re working with our partners in Europe to continue building a very engaging consumer soccer analytics product for the Fall.
The business of sports continues to be more closely aligned with technological innovation. The work we are doing at Bloomberg Sports, as evidenced by these recent developments, demonstrates our continued leadership in this space.
