The future of Africa’s economic success story takes center stage today at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. The Forum is a signature event of President Obama’s historic U.S.-Africa Leadership Summit and brings both African heads of government and the U.S. business community to the table as they engage in ways to strengthen trade, forge business relationships, debate policy and promote mutually beneficial interaction.
As part of the Forum, Bloomberg Intelligence (BI), the research arm of Bloomberg L.P., presents “Africa Rising 2014″, a publication analyzing the continent’s economic opportunities and challenges. The team of more than 150 research professionals has looked at data from 130 industries and thousands of companies worldwide that are central to Africa’s growth and prosperity. These early analyses include a view of the big economic picture, as well as deep dives into Africa’s communications, consumer, energy, financial, materials and utilities sectors. In addition, this sampling highlights analysis from BI’s government, legal, environmental and governance teams with the aim of helping both governments and business understand Africa’s promise.
