The “Best of Bloomberg” volunteer program began in 1997 as a way for employees to be good corporate citizens and give their time and talents to the community. In the wake of the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., Bloomberg launched the “Best of Bloomberg” Holiday volunteer program to shift the holiday focus from corporate parties to meaningful service opportunities in the communities where Bloomberg has a presence. That year marked a turning point at Bloomberg in volunteer engagement and community service. Last year, employees volunteered more than 34,500 hours with 175 charities located in more than 40 cities around the world. Today our employees continue the annual tradition of making a difference during the holiday season.
