Bob McDonald, Chief Executive Officer, Procter & Gamble, offers insight into hiring abroad
"In filling positions abroad, we've reduced the number of expatriates we hire dramatically. We simply don't need as many of them, but we still use those positions to create future leaders. In China, 98 percent of our employees are Chinese. Also, as a global company, you have to adapt. We became the first consumer products company to hire women in Saudi Arabia. A woman does not have a passport. They're not allowed to drive. When our female employees travel, they have to have a guardian with them. We had to have a special office for them, and a conference room with glass between the men and women."
