I’ve received a handful of e-mailed nominations for our Voice of Innovation in social media. I write back, telling people to put their nominations in comments, so that everyone else can see them and respond.
But that raises questions. What if the person nominating is the nominee, or the nominee’s spouse? This question has come up. Are there rules? I tell them that the rules are evolving. If people object to something, they’ll complain. Plenty already have. In short, you can’t break rules where none exist, but you can get people stirred up.
The bright side? Stir someone up by nominating your husband or yourself, and it starts a potentially lively conversation. So go ahead: Break the rules.
