T-Mobile G1: Early Orders Indicate Strong Demand

Apparently, T-Mobile USA has stopped taking orders for T-Mobile G1, the first phone based on Android software. Last week, the carrier said that customers who preorder the device will find it at their doorstep as early as Oct. 22. Supposedly, T-Mobile has run out of its first batch of units within a week of the G1 announcement.

This could be an indication of demand to come for the G1 phone. Of course, we don?? know how many units T-Mobile made available for preorder. But the goings-on around the G1 remind me of the fever that swept the U.S. right before the iPhone was launched. According to one story, T-Mobile expects to sell 500,000 units this quarter.
