Ford was not happy this week to have The Wall Street Journal bust out its up-coming new slogan, “Ford. Drive One.” That will replace “Bold Moves.”
Despite the fact that the campaign and line has been shown to dealers and Ford board members, someone, or someones, at Ford and ad agency Team Detroit forgot to secure the rights to “Drive One.” Whoops.
The automaker still thinks it can. But it will now cost them more to do it now that the owner knows how far down the road Ford is with the campaign. It could be Capital One that owns it. Typing www.driveone.com takes a Web surfer to Capital One Auto Buying.
In any case, there were lots of sour faces around the Ford stand over that one. Makes me wish I had broken it…:P
