NPD Group?? monthly numbers have an interesting if not earth shattering mix of information. PS3 is doing well. The Xbox 360, not quite. Call of Duty 4, Wii Play, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band continue to dominate the software sales charts. The average price of retail games is up some 19% from the smae time last year, thanks to the higher prices of the latter two music bundles. My immediate take-away, however, is that even in a month where year-over-year hardware sales were down some 6% compared to 2007, the U.S. games industry is still raking in nearly $300 million a week.
