A bit more on GM’s plans for right-hand drive Hummers in Tokyo. I read David Welch’s post below with interest (and a degree of bafflement) so I figured I’d check the numbers on the small number of Hummers already being imported. Guess what? They’re shrinking fast. According to the Japan Automobile Importers Association, for the eleven months through November, Hummer imports were off 48% at 641 units, compared to 1,237 for the same period last year. That’s also worse than GM’s main brands in Japan. Chevrolet sales are down 38.6% at 1,130 units through November, Cadillac is down 21% at 626 and Saab is down 22% at just 295 units.
