Microsoft Posts Stronger Earnings

Burger King has stronger sales and earnings; plus more stocks in the news Friday

Microsoft (MSFT) Posts $0.50 vs. $0.29 third quarter earnings per share (EPS) on a 32% revenue rise. Sees fourth quarter revenue of $13.1 billion to $13.4 billion and EPS of $0.37 to $0.39. Sees fiscal year 2008 revenue of $56.5 billion to $57.5 billion and EPS of $1.68 to $1.72.

Burger King (BKC) Posts $0.25 third quarter EPS vs. $0.11 loss on a 3.2% system-wide same-store sales rise. Posts $0.25 vs. $0.15 adjusted third quarter EPS. On target to achieve fiscal year 2007 adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income goals, as well as to exceed its revenue goal.

McAfee (MFE) Posts $0.28 vs. $0.25 first quarter GAAP EPS on a 16% revenue rise. Sees $295 million to $310 million second quarter revenue and GAAP EPS of $0.18 to $0.23. To take additional non-cash charges associated with past stock option grants estimated at $100 million to $150 million.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber (GT) Posts $0.61 first quarter loss vs. $0.23 EPS from continuing operations despite a slight sales rise. Targets additional cost saving in 2009 and raises its gross cost savings goal over this four-year period to between $1.8 billion and $2 billion.

Statoil (STO) Enters into agreement with North America Oil Sands Corp. (NAOSC) whereby Statoil will make an all-cash offer to acquire all shares of NAOSC at the price of C$20 a share.

Broadcom (BRCM) Posts $0.29 vs. $0.36 first quarter non-GAAP EPS on flat revenue. Says mixed outlooks from a few of its larger customers are causing lower-than-normal level of visibility into near-term results.

SanDisk (SNDK) Posts $0.19 vs. $0.44 first quarter non-GAAP EPS as depressed margins offset a 26% revenue rise. Says excess supply and depressed pricing are expected to continue through the second quarter.

Cardinal Health (CAH) Expects fiscal year 2007 non-GAAP EPS from continuing operations to be between $3.32 and $3.40, in the upper half of the range it previously provided. Expects fiscal year 2008 non-GAAP EPS from continuing operations to be above its Long Term goal of 12% to 15% growth, in the $3.95 to $4.15 range.

Massey Energy (MEE) Posts $0.40 vs. $0.07 first quarter EPS on a 9% rise in produced coal revenue. Projects 2007 produced coal shipments of 40 million to 42 million tons, with average produced coal realization between $51 and $52 per ton.

Netgear (NTGR) Posts $0.44 vs. $0.31 first quarter non-GAAP EPS on a 36% revenue rise. Posts $0.40 first quarter GAAP EPS. Sees $165 million to $170 million second quarter revenue.
